Martha Boone Mattia is a Texas-based writer and perennial tourist into the far reaches of human thought. She has lived on five continents as a fascinated observer and focused listener.

Mattia has worked as a business and feature writer for newspapers in Texas and Pennsylvania and has provided communication counsel to entities as diverse as IBM and the Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon. She has co-written and performed in a play for community theater and she has climbed the tallest mountain in Africa.

Like most of the people she has interviewed and observed, her greatest motivation is not the draw of the broader world, but the inner frontier of her family, where the mysteries of the universe are played out on a tiny stage. She and her husband live in Dallas, Texas, with their three children.

Mattia's current work, "Conversations with George Bush", is a poignant and revealing glimpse into the American psyche.  She explores the concerns, social issues, and life experiences that help to answer the question, "What is an American?".
